Practical review

Review columns, furigana and narrow bubbles

Vertical Japanese OCR is not just horizontal OCR turned sideways. Keep complete columns in the source image and inspect how they were grouped before judging the English. The translator is already set to Japanese → English.

Follow the columns within each bubble

Typical vertical dialogue runs top to bottom within each column, then from the right column toward the left. Horizontal labels and captions may differ. Do not apply a single page-wide ordering rule to every detected region.

Watch for small reading aids

Furigana next to kanji can be mistaken for a second dialogue line. If the result repeats a name or contains fragments, compare the small characters with the main column. Try a clearer complete-bubble image rather than clipping away parts of the sentence.

Reflow English instead of squeezing it

English normally reads horizontally. Use the editor to fit several readable lines inside the bubble, retaining margins at the border. If a sentence was split into separate regions, correct the wording and remove redundant text manually after checking the source.
